Background colors not saving in Lubuntu 26.04

Problem Description:
I can get to the Select Color popup to show, and manually specify a background color. However if I try to save it, it will show in Custom Colors, but as soon as the computer is shut down or rebooted, if I come back to it, it’s gone. Nothing but white in the custom colors. I’ve been looking around in the logs, not seeing anything there. Tried running pcmanfm-qt –desktop-pref bg in a terminal just to see if any messages would pop up there, but still nothing. A general web search hasn’t been terribly helpful either. So, what’s one to do? I’m guessing there’s a missing savefile somewhere, or the config is pointing incorrectly to whatever savefile exists. I just have no idea where to look for either of these.

Have you installed three Desktop Environments?

For Lubuntu 26.04 with only one DE lxqt version 2.3
Right Click Desktop > Desktop Preferences > Background > Select Background Colour
OK and Apply
Wallpaper image file should be empty
Close the Preferences window and reboot

I tried this. Cleared out the Wallpaper Image file field, had today’s color saved.

Rebooted, and…it’s gone. I haven’t installed three different desktop environments that I know of, though some libraries may have installed as dependencies for certain apps, like KDE’s partition manager, and KSystemLog. Outside of that, it’s nothing but LXQT. I do have a slide show going, though it seems like that shouldn’t affect anything. I’ve used Lubuntu 22.04 and 24.04 without this issue occuring.

Possibly some conflict with KDE Plasma 6.6.6?
Does this have an option for background image selection?
