Hola friends,

Do you remember last year’s announcement to co-locate UbuCon EU at OpenSouthCode?
We certainly remember the energy, the drive, and the passion of the OpenSouthCoders! The event was an incredible open source experience and the engagement absolutely fantastic.

Why we are going back

The Spanish open source community has shown us incredible passion and dedication. By bringing UbuCon Europe back to OpenSouthCode, we want to continue supporting this growing community. We believe that contributing technical talks, demos, and workshops is the best way to strengthen our global circle of friends. :globe_showing_europe_africa:

What to expect

UbuCon Europe will be co-located at OpenSouthCode 2026 in Málaga, Spain, on June 26 and 27, 2026. As a Diamond sponsor, Ubuntu will have a double booth where we will engage in conversations, run demos, and guide upcoming contributors to the orange side of Linux.

Ah, Málaga’s La Térmica is one of my favourite buildings and also one of my favourite art/cultural centres ever. I recall @aaronprisk’s report from OpenSouthCode last year with quite a bit of envy.

I’m actually considering jumping on a train to Málaga for this.

Will there be a need for volunteers to man the booth/merch table, etc.?

(I’m certainly not qualified to deliver a paper for the conf.)
