Yes, but the important part is the toggling to the final unmuted state; if the initial state is mute toggle it thrice.
Unfortunately, after removing hdajackretask’s influence on my Kubuntu installation, checking alsamixer (remuting then unmuting again), and testing my internal speakers after, they don’t work. But hey, at least I have a somewhat normal audio config again.

Who says? Can you please stop with the piecemeal info nugget drops and elaborate on how you got your info? It’s an exercise in frustration having to ask time and again for info you should just provide upfront.
And don’t just answer one question all the time and leave the others by the wayside. You probably did a lot of things you shouldn’t have at the time you did but I don’t even know about them, so how am I to know anything about the current state of your system?
