My App Center is indicating that I need to update libfprint and TIFF Documents. But when I attempt to install the updates, nothing happens. I tried “sudo apt update” and a few other suggestions I found online, but the problem persists. What should I try next?
On my Ubuntu 26.04 LTS I search the App Center for libfprint and I get the libfprint home page with a button coloured green labeled Update. I click it and I get a no release candidate available message.
I run apt update/apt upgrade in a terminal and I get
Not upgrading yet due to phasing:
libfprint-2-2 libfprint-2-tod1
I guess the same reason applies to TIFF documents.
I ran update and upgrade again. The libfprint update no longer appears in my App Center. But TIFF Documents still remains. Perhaps phasing will pick it up later.
Generally speaking, if packages are held back due to phasing it is simply a case of being patient and waiting for them to be sent out to your computer.
Thanks, Rubi! I read the article on phasing. Good to know! I wasn’t aware phasing had been around for so many years. I am guessing that when libppsdocument is phased in, then TIFF Documents will disappear from my App Center.
A final note! I ran “sudo apt upgrade” one more time. Additional items were phased in. And the notification in the App Center for TIFF Documents did, indeed, disappear. Problem resolved!
