Any possibility for WINE 11 in 26.04 repo?

Noticed that WINE is still the old v10 in 26.04. Could this still be updated in time for release so that we can use v11? Lots of worthwhile improvements there.

Moved to Project Discussion > Pre-Release Discussion since 26.04 is still in development.

Currently, development is frozen and we are at beta.

Highly unlikely this would make it in.

However, you could file a request for the next release, 26.10

Thanks

From my experience Wine offered by the Ubuntu repositories is usually earlier than the version offered for download by winehq.org. There is always a delay.

What is more, winehq.org does not yet offer a download for Ubuntu 26.04. How could it? Ubuntu 26.04 LTS has not yet been released. It just may be that downloading Wine from winehq.org might install Wine version 11. I have found that by downloading from winehq.org will bring in a later Wine version than that in the Ubuntu repositories.

Once Wine is installed it will be updated regularly if we have winehq in Software & Updates>Other Software tab. Keep in mind that things are being re-arranged. Software & Updates may lose its job of hosting PPAs to something call Security Center. Or something like that.

This late in the cycle, we are in Feature Freeze and other freeze states. To that end, I don’t think this could make it in this late in the cycle for 26.04.
