This category is for discussions around the Canonical Academy program.
The Canonical Academy is an excellent idea. Here is my suggestion on how to improve it. If you want people to get more interested in learning, developing the system, and promoting it, make the learning experience fun and interactive. A simple way of doing it is by setting up a basic interactive quiz questions and answers and a system with points and badges for people of all ages and levels. The simpler the questions, the better. Createa structured learning experience, not a curriculum. And get the learners to re-infornce themselves by interacting and explaining their answers and choices. In this way you will develop the community, and more importantly you will built a knowldege base that will help you understand the user uniqueness, their expectations, and their recommendations in one place.
I took a beta exam today. Here’s some feedback from my exam experience:
- For those thinking of taking one, I think it’s worth your time if you want to take something that tests your Linux skills in a format better than just MCQs.
- Come prepared for the scenario-based exam. Study things that are not explicitly on the list, like scripting, piping commands, and I/O operations as well as commands that can help you to move files because all of this may help.
- Be prepared for a slow exam platform. My internet connection might not have been the best, but if it was as good as I get, I experienced some noticeable lag.
- Make sure you have a big monitor to take the exam because it didn’t work as well as I’d hoped on my 14” MacBook.
- Have fun with the exam and don’t stress too much.
For the test makers, here are some things that you can improve on:
- Add a timer that’s visible.
- make the web VM scalable so that we can have the screen fit more comfortably into small monitors.
Overall, thanks for the opportunity to test my knowledge and have a say in what the future of what Ubuntu exams will be.
I thought of another useful thing earlier while watching content on the CKA exam: people in the Canonical Academy could benefit from practice exams in the form of a part of a textbook or a resource provided by Canonical. t would do a decent job of helping establish the depth we need to study and know our skills for the test!
