A work around for Gimp with alsa midicontrol in 26.04

When connecting Gimp in RaySession to controller some knobs have unexpected behavior. When Gimp is then closed pw-jack will crash(on this system at least). As far i could find it may me due to an older version of py-alsa so i tried the old qjackctl way to connect my controller the alsa way. Now it’s all good.

I hope to help others with this so you don’t have to blow your sound system  The real danger was when qtractor says that jack has crashed: do not click ok when it is not ok. There will come an enormous energy buildup and it just keeps on going until i don’t know what happens. (an EMP-machine perhaps?) But it was very cool to make all programs work on 26.04 and to learn this.

I’m very happy with my succesful upgrade from 24.04. For the rest the system runs more stable than ever..!:guitar:

That’s… not normal behavior.

You don’t by chance happen to be using Chrome or a Chromium based browser?

Nope but it also happened when i disconnected the controller with qtractor on.

After exchanging some usb devices - so this one is directly linked - i can test but i don’t want to have to reboot this day. This workaround is still good for me and it also proofs that qjackctl can perfectly work aside with raysession. B.t.w. i knew this was gonna happen after upgrading :face_with_monocle: :guitar:
