As mentioned in this thread the game 2048-qt has been removed because it doesn’t work flawlessly on 26.04 LTS. But surprisingly it has somehow survived the premature release upgrade from 24.04 LTS to 26.04 LTS on my computer. I am very glad about this, because it is my favourite game to play at the same time when listening to a pod cast. Maybe other people like it, too. For them there are good news about its shortcomings:
(1) The game starts and works normally until it is over and a pop-up window appears. Then you can’t choose the option by keyboard anymore but by mouse click only.
(2) When it says that you have won and asks whether you want to continue playing or not: Option ‘Yes’ means that you will get this message each time when in the game two numbers are added, what really isn’t much fun. 
But option ‘No’ means that you can continue the game quite normally! 
This is important to me as I sometimes reach miraculously 4096.

Have you considered simply running the 2048 terminal version? Crank up the terminal font size with Ctrl+ to your liking. Arguably, it’s much more Lubuntu-y that way, since the “L” is for Lightweight; doesn’t get any lighter than that. 
FYI, the Qt version is still in the archives, so that’s why yours survived. But given all the song and dance to be performed, it’s probably for the best not to include it in fresh installs. I mean, at some point the terminal can’t be any scarier than that. 
The only downside I can see, is that the terminal version doesn’t support mouse control, but it seems that you want keyboard control anyway with such a game, which I have never played, to be honest. Might give it a go now, though.

Thanks for mentioning terminal versions, but they are not necessary for me, because I don’t need everything lightweight: my PC is from 2023.
Survived has the version 0.2.0 of 2048-qt made in 2015 by Qiaoyong Zhong. Before I upgraded Lubuntu on my computer I did this with 24.04 LTS on a VM. Alas, thereby 2048-qt was removed! Then I installed it there on 26.04 LTS via Discover, but that was version 4.0 made by Kehar Batt, hence not the same program merely updated.
Technically, I don’t need to be stingy with my 16 GiB of RAM, either, but traveling light has other benefits. For instance, this Thinkpad E495 with an AMD Ryzen 5 3500U is totally silent most of the time, because programs that need more RAM tend to need more CPU/GPU time as well; more compute more, more heat, more fan noise. Plus, one can never leave enough RAM available for when and where it’s really needed, like VM’s. Or put Firefox’s cache directory in a tmpfs, as I have, for extra low latency and SSD-wear prevention. Plenty of ways to put saved RAM to better use.
Just saying: consider it.
